HAPI-C had its Overview on Hemophilia dissemination to over 100 South District Baranggay (city district) Health Workers on September 20, 2012.
The event proved to be a success as the audience had been very inquisitive on hemophilia. Some inquiries as written on the post-evaluation sheets were read to the audience. One baranggay health worker cited that she had encountered a patient who possible could be hemophiliac, sadly the patient passed away. Other questions from several other city district health workers – such as how often factor treatment is needed, surgery for hemophilia patients, among other things, were also answered to.
Inquiries such as patient referrals were addressed to HAPI-C, and HAPI-C contact information were mentioned to be enlisted at the “What is Hemophilia” pamphlets, distributed towards the end of the lecture.
Mrs. Co introduced herself to the audience as the Main Contact Person of HAPI-C, and shared her experiences as a mother to a hemophilia patient and also as volunteering for HAPI-C. Youth volunteer Janssen Alolor also gave a few words about being a hemophilia patient himself.
Local newspaper The Freeman and Balitang Bisdak interviewed HAPI-C volunteers for print release soon. Video coverage on this event was aired the following day as a segment on Balitang Bisdak, a news TV show on the RGMA-7 (Region VII) network. The special segment aired daily on the said TV program since September 21, 2012.
